Raxworthy, D. S. (1993). The making of a settlement : Bathurst Kelso N.S.W., 1813-1833.
This was the title of Dorothy’s UNSW MA thesis which was completed in March 1989. This 1993 version has a lengthy preface which covers the background to Dorothy’s research for her thesis and subsequent publications.
“This book documents the story of the first twenty years of Bathurst’s history, from 1813 to 1833. Then using this narrative of events it looks at a number of important issues, convict freedoms, race relations, the use and misuse of power, and the drive of new settlers for land, wealth and status”.
