BLAKEHURST HIGH SCHOOL

We attended an information evening yesterday followed by a lecture on the new matheletics system the school just bought. I feel like going back to school all over again after that. If learning had been made this interesting I think a lot of us would have been a lot happier at high school ( or “Gymnasium” in my case).

Afterwards we attended a P&C Federation( Parents and Citizens Federation) meeting, our first one ever. It was well run and informative. Steven and I feel that we should get involved in the school because we were given the opportunity to send Callum there and also because our boys are going to be there for so many years that we kind of feel responsible to make a contribution somehow. How that will work we are not sure yet. Unfortunately the meetings are on Wednesday night, which is when I have to work, but hopefully we can fit it in anyway. Maybe Steven and I can share going to meetings, but we haven’t really discussed that yet.

Anyway we had a good night and are still amazed that we are now the parents of a high school student, when a few weeks ago he was still playing handball on the grounds of his primary school. And what seems just as amazing is that Conrad is now in the senior class at primary school, where the two final year students are together in one class. We were joking the other day that Callum, although older than Conrad, now is the ‘Junior’ student in the family as he is only in first year High School and that it is Conrad now who is the ‘Senior’ student at his school.

Fires February 2009
